Speaking to Lusa agency, the president of the 25th of April Users' Democratic Association said that motorists joined the "buzinão", which took place between 08:00 and 09:00.

“We decided to make this protest hours after the Government took office and days after the Assembly of the Republic was in office, to ask the executive to take urgent measures. Not only to lower VAT, but above all to regulate the sector. Until that happens, fuel prices need to be lowered,” he said.

Aristides Teixeira also told Lusa that he will ask for an audience with the President of the Assembly of the Republic and the minister of the sector to talk about the price of fuel, which rose again on Monday .

“The government has to use all its resources to lower fuel prices. The Government must act immediately in defense of the people, who have seen the cost of living increase”, he underlined.

Aristides Teixeira also drew attention to the increase in the number of passengers on public transport as a result of this price increase.

“There are more passengers looking for public transport, causing chaos,” he said.
