“For Portway, this is an important step towards a constructive social dialogue, in the sense of converging on solutions that allow the recovery and stability of the company and the continuous improvement of working conditions”, says the company owned by ANA, in a statement.

SINTAC had announced, on April 1, that it “placed a notice of total strike at work on April 15, 16 and 17, 2022 at the Portway Handling company of Portugal [ground handling] at all national airports where it operates”.

The union accused the company of not complying with the payment of holidays, as stipulated in the Company Agreement, nor with the evolution of careers. According to SINTAC, 90% of Portway workers had a negative grade in the evaluations, with no possibility of appeal, “thus making career progression impossible”.
