The notice covers the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real and Viseu and will be in effect between 09:00 and 18:00 today.

The Evelyn depression that will affect the Azores from Sunday will also indirectly affect the weather on the continent from Sunday onwards.

The IPMA issues a yellow warning whenever the weather situation poses a risk for certain activities.

Today’s weather

The Institute forecasts for today, in the northern and central regions of the continent, generally very cloudy skies and periods of rain, sometimes strong and persistent, especially in Minho and Douro Litoral.

Light to moderate southwest wind is also expected, sometimes strong on the coast and moderate to strong in the highlands, with gusts up to 70 kilometres per hour (km/h), a small rise in the minimum temperature and a decrease in the maximum in the North region.

For the southern region, the IPMA expects generally cloudy skies, periods of light rain in the morning and moderate wind from the west in the afternoon.

The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 4 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 14 (in Aveiro) and the maximum between 12 (in Guarda) and 20 (in Faro).

On Sunday and Monday, the IPMA anticipates a worsening of the weather due to the passage of the Evelyn depression about 240 kilometres northwest of the island of Corvo (Azores).
