In a statement, the entity indicated that “cement consumption in the national market in the first two months of 2022 increased by 18.2% year-on-year, totalling 635 thousand tons”.

According to AICCOPN, “in the first two months of 2022, 3,226 licenses were issued by the Municipal Councils for new construction or rehabilitation works in residential buildings, which translates into an increase of 5.8%, year on year”, and “ as for the number of licensed dwellings in new constructions, in these two months, there was an increase of 19.8%, year-on-year, to 4,897”.

In the same note, the association recalled that regarding the granting of new housing loans by financial institutions, “until February 2022, there was an increase of 25.3%, compared to the same period last year, to 2,464 million euros.

On the other hand, in February, “the median value of the housing appraisal established for the purposes of bank credit recorded an appreciation of 11.9%, in year-on-year terms, in the face of variations of 13.2% in apartments and 7.4% in in the houses”, said the AICCOPN.

Algarve up 42%

The association also highlighted the Algarve, referring that the number of licensed dwellings in new construction, in the twelve months ending in February 2022, was 1,662, a value that represents an increase of 46.2% compared to the 1,137 licensed dwellings in the previous twelve months.

According to AICCOPN, “of these, 20% are T0 or T1 typology, 39% are T2 typology, 31% T3 typology and 10% T4 typology or higher”.
