The alert situation, the lowest level of response to disaster situations in the Civil Protection Basic Law, will end tonite at 23:59.

"The declaration of the alert situation throughout the continental national territory was also extended, until 23:59 on May 31, keeping the measures currently in force unchanged", said Mariana Vieira da Silva.

On April 21, the Government approved the end of the mandatory use of masks, maintaining their mandatory use in health establishments, health services and structures where especially vulnerable people reside, as well as in public transport.

On the other hand, the covid-19 digital certificate, or other proof of laboratory performance, is no longer required for access to residential structures and for visits to health care establishments.

On the same day, the Council of Ministers decided to revoke the Passenger Locator Form, which is no longer mandatory for passengers on flights to or from mainland Portugal or cruise ships when they dock in mainland Portugal.

These changes were justified, at the time, taking into account the "positive evolution with regard to the epidemiological situation in Portugal".
