Speaking to journalists in Quarteira, Algarve, Catarina Martins said she considered it “absolutely outrageous” to see that, in the face of “galloping” inflation in the country, citizens are seeing their salaries and pensions reduced, while some companies present extraordinary profits.
“And the government says that the answer to inflation is to let wages and pensions get smaller and smaller. Now, this is not acceptable, this needs a civic upheaval. A shock that says that it cannot be those who work who have to pay for this inflation crisis, which is truly filling the pockets of some”, she stressed.

The workers unhappy with their wage conditions in the face of inflation have the option to start their own business. We need to encourage more people into entrepreneurship. Relying on the state to legislate everyone into prosperity is a utopian view unfortunately.

We are all paying for inflation, but unfortunately workers continue to be conned by the left into thinking that they alone shoulder the burden.
Inflation has been caused by the disastrous response to COVID combined with the war in Ukraine: we can lay the blame for both squarely on the shoulders of bureaucrats who cannot understand complex systems and let their ideology do the thinking for them.

Workers at the bottom are already living hand to mouth while profits for large corporatiions continue to be protected. No one is asking for everyone to be 'legislated into prosperity' but ppl are being legislated further into debt and poverty while corporate profits are protected...the rich and powerful looking after their own as usual. Suggesting that everyone can just start their own viable business is nonsense. There is enough money,food, energy, resources and technology available for everyone in this world to live a dignified life free from the threat of poverty hunger violence/war. The rulers of the world simply prefer to keep ppl divided, desperate and enslaved in a system of inequality.

Anyone with the mearest grasp of economics would know that it is not wages that are driving inflation, but the overvaluation of the US dollar. Because most commodities traded internationally are paid for in dollars the disparity in exchange values make these items more expensive to non-US customers. This is why inflation is growing internationally. A break from using the dollar (unlikely) or a rush away from fossil fuels (possible) is one possible solution, otherwise we will have to learn to live with it, or fundamentally change our economic system.
