“It is an ongoing debate, which will certainly go to social consultation and then, if necessary, go to Parliament”, said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The President of the Republic said that the debate on this matter “is still going on”, which is why he didn’t wish to comment further.
“We will see if there is any legislative initiative and at the end of the legislative initiative when it appears in Belém, I will speak out”, he stressed.
The possibility of reducing the working week from five to four days is one of the 70 measures that make up the legislative package.

Yet more nonsense from the Socialist merry-go-round! How can you make yourself richer by doing less work? The French found the reduction in the work week to 35 hours cost the taxpayer billions of euros as the government had to bail out small companies for the cost of the measure. When you work less, you produce less and earn less, and only believers in 'fantasy economics' will tell you anything different. We will all be poorer as a result, make no mistake!

Billy its clear you lack even the most fundamental knowledge of how economy works. Productivity has nothing to with the amount of hours you work, it's about how much you can do with those hours. That, we can only improve with more innovation, technology and overall more investment in our national businesses. Hope it clears things up.
