Benfica are set to begin preseason preparations at Seixal Training Centre on June 27th with new manager Roger Schmidt. The German coach signed a two-year deal with the club back in May, leaving his post at PSV Eindhoven.

On their return from England, the Eagles will participate in the Algarve Trophy, facing French team OGC Nice and English side Fulham, coached by the Portuguese Marco Silva, on July 15th and 17th, respectively.

After a friendly bout against Athletic Bilbao on July 22nd in Geneva, Benfica will end the pre-season with the Eusébio Cup, against English side Newcastle. The match will take place at at Estádio da Luz on July 26th.

Benfica, who finished in third place in last season’s league table, will play in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, whose first-leg matches are scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd, while the second leg will take place on the 9th of the same month.

If they qualify, they will then play the Champions League group stage playoff on August 16th or 17th (first leg) and on August 23rd or 24th (second leg).
