The districts of Lisbon and Leiria are under orange warning from 09:00 today until 17:00 on Saturday and the remaining 16 are at yellow until 00:00 on Saturday.

On Friday, the orange warning will extend to the districts of Coimbra, Santarém, Setúbal, Évora and Beja and on Saturday also to Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Bragança, Vila Real, Braga and Porto.

In the coming days, mainland Portugal will face a situation of persistent hot weather, which should give rise to a heat wave in many areas of the territory.

The forecast points to an increase in temperatures, especially the maximums, with values above 35 degrees Celsius expected in most of the country, except in some places on the western coast, where values will be between 30 and 35 degrees.

Inland, especially in the southern region, and in the Tagus and Douro valleys, temperatures are expected to reach values above 40 degrees from Friday, reaching 42 degrees locally.

The minimum temperature will also increase, predicting the persistence of tropical nights (minimums above 20°C) in a large part of the territory.
