The IPMA has also placed several municipalities in all districts of mainland Portugal at very high and high risk of rural fire, while nine districts have been issued with a yellow weather warning due to high temperatures.

Due to the persistence of high maximum temperatures, the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA) has placed the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora, Beja and Faro under a yellow warning between 09:00 today and 18:00 on Thursday.

The IPMA will raise the yellow warning to orange in the districts of Bragança and Guarda between 09:00 on Thursday and 06:00 on Friday because of the hot weather.
