"A resolution was approved that extends the state of alert throughout the mainland due to the Covid-19 pandemic until 31 August at 23:59 hours," said the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva.

She also clarified that all rules currently in place will continue, including the use of masks on public transport.

Asked about a possible change in the measures after the summer season, the minister admitted the possibility of additional measures to combat and mitigate the pandemic from autumn, if the evolution of the epidemiological situation justifies it. "When autumn comes, we might have a worsening of the pandemic that may make it necessary to take additional measures," she said.
