According to the DGS weekly epidemiological report, there were 6,324 fewer infections and 38 fewer deaths compared to the previous week.

As for hospital occupancy in mainland Portugal due to Covid-19, the DGS started to release data on hospitalizations for the Monday before the report was published on Fridays.

Based on this criterion, the bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 833 people were hospitalized, 196 less than on the same day of the previous week, with 54 patients in intensive care units, minus five.

According to the DGS bulletin, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 284 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered an 18% decrease compared to the previous week, but the transmissibility index (Rt) of coronavirus rose to 0.86 (from 0.81).

By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded 11,882 cases between July 19 and 25, 3,344 less than in the previous period, and 23 deaths, 22 less.

The North region accounted for 6,624 cases (minus 1,780) and 17 deaths (plus one) and the Center totalled 4,424 infections (minus 518) and 10 deaths (minus 13).

In the Algarve, 2,148 positive cases were recorded (445 less) and 10 deaths (two more) and in Alentejo there were 1,532 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (212 less) and four deaths (9 less).

As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 1,652 new infections between 19 and 25 July (plus 162) and one death (minus one), while Madeira recorded 1,015 cases (minus 187) and seven deaths (plus four), according to the DGS data.
