This second case also occurred at dawn on 31 July and involved a small sailboat heading from the Algarve to Lisbon, with two men on board, who were awakened by the noise of the impact. The rudder was bitten by the orcas and the boat was eventually transported to a dry dock.

The other vessel had been less fortunate and sank following its encounter with orcas on the same night, leading to all five crew members needing to be rescued by the Navy.
