The municipality detected the problems of the county on a social level, through a diagnosis, which allowed the preparation of an Action Plan, which aims to respond to the needs revealed.

"We detected needs for about 60 families, that is, 60 families that we consider are living undignifiedly", said António Oliveira today. The mayor noted that there are dwellings that "are not properly framed", that is, the household is larger than what the infrastructure should house, with, for example, two or three children sleeping in one room.

"The goal here, by the end of 2025, is for us to improve living conditions in at least 50% of households. We have already seen that, of these 60 families, only 30 [households] have ownership of the property, that is, they were eligible to apply [to the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU)]", he said.

Oliveira explained that some applications to the IHRU had already been approved, and that others were still pending due to the fact that many of the families were not homeowners. The Vice-Mayor of Tábua explained that in the Action Plan there are axes at the level of demography; family, childhood and youth; the elderly and also education, employment, training and qualification.

Regarding the demographics, the intention is to promote active aging, through a follow-up to the elderly, as many are alone at home and do not communicate with each other. The municipality intends to double the number of vacancies in the Senior Academy, to promote physical, sport and pedestrian activities for the elderly, as well as to create a new digital system for monitoring the elderly, among other measures.

In the area of family, childhood and youth, the idea is to develop, namely, more training actions for family and parental intervention, as well as the opening of municipal classrooms in the parish of Midões, Mouronho and Tábua. As for the elderly, they are "eager for meetings" and, therefore, the municipality proposes some gatherings, namely the "Tábua + Social", which is an event in which elderly people from all the private social solidarity institutions (IPSS) carry out activities during the week.

In July, the Action Plan for the Municipality of Tábua and the Social Charter of the municipality were presented and approved by the Local Council for Social Action. The Action Plan is an annual planning document that operationalizes the Social Development Plan, in line with the social diagnosis and the Social Development Plan 2022-2025 of the municipality of Tábua.

"Some of the objectives are not possible to accomplish this year. Therefore, we have established 2025 as the year of conclusion, despite this more than 50% of the measures are being carried out this year", he concluded.
