According to a source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Santarém, a 13-year-old boy died this Sunday, after drowning in the Tagus River, in the late afternoon, in front of the river beach of Valada.

The drowning alert was given at 19:10, and about half an hour later the body was found by firefighters and removed from the water. The source also added that the death was eventually announced at the scene at 20:15.

This Sunday, at least two more people disappeared on river beaches in mainland Portugal.

The alert for the disappearance of a man on the river beach of Senhora da Ribeira, in the parish of Pinheiro de Ázare, in Santa Comba Dão, was given, according to the CDOS of Viseu, at 15:45.

The body was eventually pulled out of the water at 21:30. According to the same source, the victim was an 18-year-old.

Further north, in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, according to a source from CDOS de Braga, an alert was given for the disappearance of a person after diving into the Caniçada reservoir, in Vilar da Veiga, in the municipality of Terras de Bouro, at 15:45.

The source was not able to specify the victim's age or gender, but according to Jornal de Notícias, he was 20-years-old.
