“I am delighted that our ground breaking work on climate action is being recognised by C40 and Bloomberg Philanthropies. We are strongly committed to improving efficiency in the use of water in Lisbon, which is essential in a context of drought and scarcity of this resource,” said the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.

Carlos Moedas said that the municipality is “working with Lisbon residents to improve the city’s ability to adapt to a changing climate, meet climate goals and ensure a fairer and more universal energy transition”. The mayor considers, therefore, that this recognition “is a testament to Lisbon's commitment to combating the climate crisis. Lisbon is proud to be part of this group of dynamic cities that illustrate what leadership is all about in building an innovative, resilient and inclusive future”.

The winners of the 2022 C40 Cities Bloomberg Philanthropies Awards will be announced in October during the C40 World Mayors Summit in Buenos Aires.
