Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has revealed that he wants to make the search giant 20 percent more efficient. This goal may involve cutting back on headcount.

“We want to make sure, as a company, that when you have fewer resources than before, that you're prioritizing all the right things to work on and that your employees are really productive, that they can really impact the things they're working on, so that's what we're spending our time on.” added Google's CEO, ensuring that he is aware that macroeconomic factors are out of the company's reach.

“The more we try to understand the macroeconomy, we feel very uncertain about it. Macroeconomic performance is correlated with advertising spending, consumer spending, and so on”, shared Pichai, during his speech at the Code Conference in Los Angeles, along with some details regarding the actions he intends to take to make Google more efficient in the face of economic uncertainty and the broad slowdown in advertising investments from which Google largely benefits, said SAPO.
