According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) an earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was recorded at 22:16 yesterday, which was felt in the municipality of Loulé, Algarve.

"The IPMA reports that on the 11 September at 22:16 an earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale was registered at the stations of the Mainland Seismic Network, whose epicentre was located about 60 km south-southeast of Olhão," according to a statement released to Lusa.

According to information available, until around midnight, the earthquake "did not cause personal injury or property damage and was felt with maximum intensity II (Mercalli modified scale) in the municipality of Loulé (Faro)," the IPMA statement said.
