With almost 1,000 courts in operation, this popular game is all the rage amongst trend-setters and sporting professionals alike, and is built on similar foundations to tennis. Always played in doubles, this easy-to-play game is a very sociable affair, so hours of fun can be enjoyed by everyone.

To hop on the trend, head to some of the best courts in the Algarve such as Vilamoura Padel and Tennis Academy or the Campus in Quinta do Lago. Off Roading

Tailor-made for adrenaline junkies, the Algarve has long been a popular destination amongst thrill-seekers from around the globe.

Venture off the beaten tracks and inland to the Algarve’s lesser discovered areas with your personal All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATV’s) accomplice. Strap in for a thrilling buggy expedition and make use of Portugal’s seemingly endless dirt trails. Boasting more legal tracks to explore than anywhere else in Europe, adventure through the earthy interior of the Algarve’s inland areas. A dirt-track daredevils paradise. No need to shake off the sandy evidence of this off-roading rebellion as bystanders will watch in wonderment of this outrageously cool activity.

Go-Karting

If getting down with the dust doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, but you are still determined for a rip-roaring road activity, then go-karting is for you. Portimão Autódromo is home to one of the largest go-karting tracks in Europe. Experience 1.5km of exhilarating straights at a top speed of 160kmh. Gastronomy

The Algarve has become a celebration of eclectic cuisines from around the globe. Renowned Chefs have planted their marque with food offerings to assuage the most discerning of palettes. 100’s of eateries await, including six Michelin Star restaurant’s. Whether a marina side café presided over by a passionate barista to a stunning lunch of freshly caught seafood on the beach to a romantic table for two or memorable family celebration, fine fresh food is at its heart.

Hugely popular restaurants invite you to enjoy fresh flavours in an unbeatable-setting overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Spend a relaxed day or evening in Vale do Lobo at one of the ‘famous five’; Julia’s, Izzy’s, Paradise Beach Club, Eduardo’s or Finn’s, firm favourites among locals, holidaymakers and well-versed epicures are these oceanfront eateries along Praia do Garrão where you can while away an afternoon down on the beach; and bask in the sunshine while watching the waves lap the golden shore.

Fancy something from one of the Algarve’s many fine dining establishments? The Michelin Gala responsible for announcing the stars attributed for 2022 resulted in a total of 33 restaurants across Portugal receiving Michelin stars which includes six in the Algarve. Two restaurants, Ocean and Vila Joya, received 2 stars each.

Villa Joya is home to one of the Algarve’s most revered retreats. Interposed in the heart of Albufeira, this award-winning resort is a hedonistic haven and a place where complete and utter enjoyment is the order of everyday.

Newly attributed stars went to A Ver Tavira, in Tavira, and Al Sud in Lagos.

The Algarve’s reputation as a foodie destination has long been established in the region. The abundance of quality, fresh and local produce, both from the sea and the land, has enticed some of Europe’s best chefs to the region as well as inspiring a growing generation of home-grown talents.

Vineyards

The Algarve has bunches (pardon the pun) of vineyards dotted around its beautiful landscape and thrive in its relatively dry climate. 2000 vineyards and 30 wine producers occupy land in the Algarve and flourish off its fertile soil.

Rich with life, this wine region merits some time unearthing its viticulture. Familiarise yourself with grape varieties during an enlightening tour, and taste the flavours of Portugal’s organic produce.

Visit Sunseeker Portugals website to read about one of the vineyards our team visited whilst filming the Algarve Adventure series www.sunseeker.pt/algarve-adventures. Avade Vineyard is simply stunning!

Nautical

The Algarve is a hub for nautical activity and hosts marinas which are hard to rival. As detailed in this Algarve Adventure series, an abundance of marine orientated excursions await. From Amazonian-style escapades down both the Guadiana and Arade Rivers to glamorous tender-to beach club affairs with the likes of NoSolo Agua and Grand Beach Club, the Algarve is a haven, destined to be explored by boat.

Have you ever received a personal escort by a pod of Dolphins or swam in open water with a shoal of wild Tuna? Both activities are available within easy access of Portugal’s Atlantic waters and provide a unique experience that will create long lasting memories.

If a more adrenaline-fueled activity is more your speed, why not try paragliding over the ocean on the back of a sports boat or head your boat into one of the many caves that are darted along the coast.

Wakeboarding and indeed waterskiing are also some of the most popular aquatic sports to sample and jet skiing is abound with a number of companies offering jet experiences all along the Algarve coast.
