According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the analyses of the water quality carried out by the APA revealed “microbiological values above the reference parameters, with the water being unsuitable for bathing” on both beaches.

After the APA advised against going swimming on these beaches, the AMN gave instructions, on Friday, for the red flag to be hoisted and notices placed on the accesses to the respective beaches "to warn about the ban”.

According to the maritime authority, the ban on the Algarve beach of Dona Ana and on the Alentejo beach of Zambujeira do Mar will remain “until the results of the new water quality analyses indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters” .
