In a statement, the City Council said that the “Linha Ruído” (808 910 555) is served directly by the Municipal Police of Lisbon, which “will take the steps that each situation implies”.

The Lisbon Chamber stresses in the note that excessive noise "is even one of the factors that most compromises people's well-being" and, therefore, when there are breaches of the rules, citizens must file a complaint.

"This line is a direct and dedicated channel for citizens to report situations of excessive noise to the municipality", says councillor Ângelo Pereira, quoted in the statement.

For several years, residents of some areas of Lisbon such as Cais do Sodré, Santos and Bairro Alto have complained about excessive noise in bars and on the streets.
