“The acquisition of the Nowo operation by Vodafone reinforces its competitiveness in the market, providing it with greater scale and greater coverage, with benefits for current and future customers, as well as for the sector”, says Vodafone, in a statement.

Mário Vaz, CEO of Vodafone Portugal, says that this deal “will allow Vodafone to increase its customer base, as well as its fixed network coverage”. Cited in a statement, the official also notes that “the future modernisation of the network acquired for the new generation of fibre optics will benefit current and future users, by ensuring the quality and increased resilience of this infrastructure”.

The operation “creates the conditions for more efficient investments in high-speed connectivity networks, as well as in the development of innovative products and services”. The transaction awaits regulatory final approval, with Vodafone expecting it to be completed in the first half of 2023.

Nowo is the fourth largest convergent operator in Portugal, with around 250,000 subscribers to the mobile service and 140,000 fixed access customers (Pay TV and Broadband) in approximately one million homes covered by its communications infrastructure.
