"Around 21:35, a Carris bus stopped at our door. The driver asked for help because there were injured people on board. The first information we had is that the bus had been shot at. Today we were able to find out that the bus was stoned and hit with a pyrotechnic device", said Commander Fernando Azevedo this Tuesday, in statements to journalists. The PSP is investigating the case, he added.

According to DN, the firefighters assisted 10 people, "victims of anxiety, given the panic situation experienced inside the bus", of which two were seriously injured after being hit by shrapnel, having been taken to the Hospital de São Francisco Xavier, Lisbon.

The incident took place about 300 meters from the Ajuda barracks, and the bus was stoned while it was moving, Fernando Azevedo said.

Commander Fernando Azevedo says he does not know the reasons that led to the Carris bus being stoned and hit by a pyrotechnic device.

The Ajuda Parish Council has stated that "it is permanently monitoring the situation with the competent authorities" and "expresses its solidarity with the passengers and driver of the bus".

In the message published on social media about what happened on Monday night, the Parish Council took the opportunity to (continue) to demand increased security from the Lisbon City Council, namely more police officers and public lighting.
