In the first six months of 2022, foreigners bought around 790 residential properties in the Lisbon Urban Rehabilitation Area (ARU), representing an investment that amounted to €403 million, according to data released by Confidencial Imobiliário.

"In this period, the average investment from foreigners was 509.0 thousand euros and the acquisitions were carried out by buyers from 60 different countries".

"The amount invested by foreigners in this period is in line with the half-yearly average levels of the last three years, positioned between 360 euros and 390 million euros", it can be read.

However, this is "a 32% reduction compared to the previous semester, but this period saw a record investment of €592.5 million, reflecting an anticipation of acquisitions due to changes in the eligibility criteria for golden visas".
