The project represents “an investment of four million euros” for the construction of a section of a road and bicycle lane with “a length of 1,800 meters”, which will allow “to close the northern ring road of Loulé”, joining two existing sections, highlighted Vítor Aleixo.

The mayor considered that the intervention was welcomed with “satisfaction” by the population, who have been waiting for this work “for many years” and have “great expectations” to see a road completed that will allow them to bypass the city from the north without having to enter the urban network.

“It is a section that will connect two other sections, one to the south and the other to the north, of the Loulé ring road”, explained Vitor Aleixo, considering that, from the beginning of the work in 1990 until the start of the last section, “the world has changed a lot” and the project was adapted to respond to current needs.

The new section “already has a bike lane, trees, generous sidewalks and only two lanes, one for each direction, and no longer has four lanes, two for each side, and a central divider”, said the mayor.
