Lisbon City Council reveals that the official start of Christmas lighting in the city of Lisbon will take place in Praça do Comércio, next to the Christmas tree in Terreiro do Paço, with the presence of the mayor, Carlos Moedas.

This year, Lisbon council "chose to reduce the hours for Christmas lighting, guaranteeing savings of 50% in energy consumption compared to last year".

Now, the hours of the traditional Christmas illuminations will be from 6 pm to 11 pm from Sunday to Thursday, from 6 pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and from 6 pm to 1 am on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
