The technicians "will measure locally" the conditions, because "many do not know the airport physically", highlighted Manuel Valadas, the commission of the citizen platform Yes to the International Airport of Beja.

According to Valadas, cti's visit to this airport infrastructure should take place "on the 27th or 28th" of this month and the citizen platform were invited to assess the location.

The citizen platform Yes to Beja International Airport learned of the scheduling of this visit during a meeting, held on Thursday, with CTI, responsible for the strategic environmental assessment of the new Lisbon airport.

"We are going forward with this action, which is not easy, but on Thursday we were aware that Beja Airport has the possibility of having good news in a few months," said Manuel Valadas.

According to the spokesman of the platform, during this meeting, members of the CTI asked "for more information" and asked "several questions", to which supporters of Beja Airport answered "with satisfaction".

"There was confusion that we argued that Beja Airport could be Lisbon Airport, but we said at the meeting that at no point did the platform argue that Beja Airport was to replace Lisbon," he said.

In an interview with Lusa, on January 28, one of the coordinators of CTI, Professor Rosario Macário, revealed that Beja and Alverca entered the list of possible locations for the new airport of Lisbon, after proposals to the commission, which will analyse them.

Created at the end of last year, CTI is listening to "all entities with relevance to the subject" to reach a set of criteria that "will serve to analyse the various possibilities", explained, then, Rosario Macário.

The spokesperson of the platform revealed earlier that the structure delivered a statement, with "more than 300 pages", to CTI, in which presents its arguments in defence of Alentejo infrastructure as a "sustainable solution" for the country.
