The new exhibition highlights the portrait and displays works from the State Contemporary Art Collection (CACE), in deposit at the municipality's CACC, but also from several private collections, such as the Private Collection, Norlinda and José Collection Lima, Isabel and Carlos Collection, Rita and Gonçalo Lima Collection, among others, said the Coimbra Chamber.

"POSE", which will be on display until May 28, "highlights names such as Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Andy Denzler, Andy Warhol, Paula Rego, Júlio Pomar, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Vhils, among others".

The exhibition focuses on portraiture, whether the portrait "with markedly narcissistic gestures or the portrait as pure awareness of oneself and the other".

"The motivation for "POSE" results from the encounter with three paintings from the modern period that coexist with contemporary works, in different supports, including photography, and that confirm the permanence of stylistic codes, allowing us to affirm that some photographs look like painting".

According to the press release, "the works that summarize this curatorial project were found in the State Contemporary Art Collection (Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, on deposit at the CACC) and in the Municipality Art Collection (Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro and Frederico George) , forming three constellations, with contemporary works of a wide temporal range and stylistic diversity: from realistic or pictorial figuration, to the simple and transparent line in the drawing, passing through the reverse of the portrait to the mere evocation of the face through the stain, including works from CACE and several private collections in the city, region and country".

The exhibition can be seen from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (the space is closed on Monday and holidays).
