According to Lusa, the 26-year-old man was heard at the Lisbon Court of Appeal and is awaiting extradition to the Netherlands.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Foreigners and Borders Service reported on the arrest, on Monday at Lisbon Airport, of a man suspected of homicide in the Netherlands, who was carrying clothes with traces of blood and a plastic bag with pieces of meat.

According to SEF, the man was detained at the airport's border control after the authorities suspected the legality of the Italian citizen documentation he presented.

That security service indicated that the man was initially detained “for strong indications of committing the crime of forgery of documents”, but later the authorities discovered that he was the man suspected of having committed a homicide in the Netherlands, the day before, “the reason why he intended to leave the Schengen Area using a false identity”.

The man is accused of having committed a crime on Sunday, having fled the next day to Portugal, where he was arrested before boarding a flight to Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Also on Monday afternoon, the judicial authorities in Amsterdam issued a European Arrest Warrant for extradition purposes.

“By indication of the Dutch authorities and the DIAP of Lisbon, in addition to the documents that the suspect had in his possession, a bandage and clothes with traces of blood, a plastic package containing several pieces of meat and a mobile phone were seized", according to the SEF.
