Germany sized marine park

A marine park the size of Germany has been announced by the Australian government just a week after it rejected plans for a coal mine near to the Great Barrier Reef

The marine park in the Southern Ocean will triple the size of the Macquarie Island marine park, a critical habitat for seabirds, seals and penguins and is seen as an important contribution to conservation in the southern hemisphere.
