The rights of same-sex couples have for the first time been recognised by the high court of Seoul in South Korea.

The country still does not recognise same-sex marriage however the ruling by the court regarding health insurance being withdrawn after discovering a couple was gay, is seen as the “first recognition of the legal status of a same-sex couple” in the South Korea.
