It is reported that TAP airline is having difficulties recruiting employees, such as pilots, crew or maintenance technicians, and that the lack of staff could jeopardise summer operatonis, when there are more routes and connections, according to Dinheiro Vivo.

“The company is having difficulty hiring, namely experienced crew members. The current financial situation and the salaries paid to cabin crew no longer justify coming to TAP”, says Ricardo Penarroias, president of the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC). The scenario is also outlined by the spokesman for the Union of Workers and Aviation (SITAVA), who signals that the company “is seriously having difficulties in hiring all professional categories and, at the same time, people continue to leave”.

“Wage cuts remain, pay scales and careers are frozen. It gives the idea that working at TAP is no longer as attractive as it used to be”, points out Paulo Duarte, to the same newspaper. If this situation does not change, the summer could be marked by “flight cancellations due to the lack of capacity to carry out all maintenance procedures necessary for the operation in time”, warns the president of the Union of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. To Dinheiro Vivo, TAP reveals that in early January it opened 200 vacancies for cabin staff.
