The following March they organised the first dinner dance to celebrate Ireland's national day and have endeavoured to continue with this event each year.

After a break of three years due to Covid-19, this year's dinner dance was held in the Jupiter Hotel in Praia da Rocha on Friday 10 March.

The event was a great success, with 66 members and guests in attendance enjoying an excellent buffet, followed by dancing to the lively music of the talented Vitor Talhadas.

The guest of honour was the Irish Ambassador, Ralph Victory.

In his address to the gathering, the Ambassador thanked the committee for all the hard work in organising the occasion and expressed the hope that the success of this year's event would encourage even more people to join in the various Society activities throughout the coming year.

New members are always welcome and of course you don't have to be Irish to join!
