Celebrating 28 years, the award is the world’s most valuable annual prize for a single work of fiction published in English.

This year’s shortlist features authors who are American, Mexican, German, Croatian, and Canadian-Vietnamese.

Four of the novels are in translation. In the event that a translated novel wins, 25,000 of the total prize will go to the translator.

Love Novel by Ivana Sajko (Croatian) translated from Croatian by Mima Simić. Published by V&Q Books.
