According to a source from Faro's District Relief Operations Command (CDOS), search and rescue operations have been taking place since 07:15, involving 24 operators.

The alert for the disappearance was received at 20:00 on Friday by the CDOS of Faro and the searches took place during part of the night, between the beaches of Barranco and Ingrina, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, having been interrupted due to lack of visibility conditions at the site, according to a statement sent to newsrooms by the National Maritime Authority (AMN), on Friday night.

In the search operations, coordinated by the Captain of the Port and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Lagos, "elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos, the Lifeguard Station of Sagres and the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila do Bispo also participated. An aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force also moved to the site".
