About 50 other municipalities in Faro, Beja, Lisbon, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Viseu, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Aveiro, Vila Real and Bragança are at very high risk of fire.

The IPMA has also placed several municipalities in all districts on the mainland, except Porto and Viana do Castelo, at high risk of fire.

The fire hazard, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.

Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The Institute foresees, at least until Sunday, a worsening of the risk of rural fire.

Light to moderate wind from the north/northwest is also expected, becoming moderate to strong and with gusts of up to 75 kilometres per hour on the west coast, in the western Algarve and in the highlands.

Because of the strong wind, the IPMA has today placed the districts of Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro under a yellow warning due to the forecast of strong wind between 12:00 today and 22:00 on Friday.

On Thursday, the yellow warning of strong wind extends to the districts of Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo.

The notice for these districts will be in effect between 12:00 pm on Thursday and 10:00 pm on Friday.

The IPMA predicts for today on the continent minimum temperatures between 6 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) and 17 (in Faro) and the maximum between 19 (in Guarda and Porto) and 31 (in Faro).
