After years of delay, the building of a cable car line over the IJ river in Amsterdam has been approved.

The cable car will link the Noord and West districts starting from 2027, carrying 5,500 people over the river an hour. Each gondola will carry 32 passengers and one will leave the station every 21 seconds, travel time being 5 minutes.
