According to CNN Portugal, the aircraft - a Boeing 737-8AS - was heading towards Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, when the problem was detected while flying over Beja yesterday (14 May).

The plane had taken off from Faro airport at 1:24 pm, and returned to the airport in the Algarve at 3:05 pm, safely.

Before landing again, the aircraft spent approximately an hour and a half circling the region of Tavira and flying over the sea to burn fuel.
