In a statement, the ESB stressed that their reservoirs are “not appropriate for swimming due to the risk of deep and fast-flowing waters, changing water levels and uneven ground.”

Meanwhile, the Irish Coast Guard reportedly rescued two children in the sea after receiving 999 calls. The children were clinging to a buoy off the coast of Malahide, near the Grand Hotel.

The RNLI, Coast Guard and Water Safety Ireland warned citizens earlier in the year to always check the weather and the tide. The public is also recommended to tell someone where they’re going and when they’ll be back.

Despite the high atmospheric temperatures, the seas will remain at their coldest point in the year for now. People are advised to enter the water slowly to give them time to get used to the cold, maybe even wear a wet suit.
