According to the Luxury Traveler Holiday Habits 2023 study by the Condé Nast Johansens travel guide, carried out in January 2023 among the 63,000 subscribers of the VIP newsletter, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Greece, Ireland, Croatia, United States, and the Caribbean, make up the list of the 10 destinations that will predominantly receive luxury tourists this year.

At least 38 percent of luxury travellers say they intend to spend up to €8,000 for each holiday period per person, which could total €32,000 by the end of the year, based on the trend of previous years.

Regarding the preferred dates for enjoying this year's summer holidays, most respondents stated that they had planned them for September, followed by May and June.

The same study also indicates that, for this summer, there is a preference for country and mountain destinations, with beach destinations being chosen for longer stays, while city destinations are reserved for short-term getaways. Cruises were also mentioned by respondents among their top choices for the summer of 2023.

It is also expected that there will be a greater demand for complete holiday packages that include Spa and wellness experiences, gastronomy and oenology, outdoor activities and adventure sports.

Forecasts indicate that luxury travellers over 55 will be the ones going on vacation. When asked if they intend to spend their holidays in their own country or visit abroad, the choice of a national or international destination is practically the same.

In relation to the duration of the trips, 53 percent of the respondents assure that they will be away for between seven and ten days per trip, according to Condé Nast Johansens.
