The competition for men and women will take place at the Complexo Desportivo de Vila Real de Santo António, in the Algarve. With the best twelve international teams competing to win the sevens crown. Countries including Ireland, France, and Great Britain are all coming to show their skills on the world level.

It is not just the elite teams that are competing though, sixty-four semi-pro rugby teams from all around the world are coming to the beautiful Algarve to fight for the title.

For the twelve elite international sides, the importance of this year’s competition has been amplified due to the fight for spots in the upcoming World Rugby Challenger Series, which is key to qualification for the Paris Olympics in August 2024.

Even though rugby is the main event happening there is also a netball competition that sees twelve international women’s sides compete and plenty of side events happening around the Santo António area to keep you in the buzzing atmosphere from start to end.

José Diogo Trigo de Moraes the promoter of the event said: “This 4th edition will be the best ever. Registrations were a ‘boom’ this year, all competitions sold out when there were still four months left from the start of the tournament.”

With a total of 9,000 overnight stays expected to be booked and 2,000 participants, this event will be paramount to the local economy and tourism.

The final is taking place on the 11th of June at 5.30 pm and is where the best two teams will compete for the Algarve 7s title.

If you are an Algarve local or a tourist and coming from the Faro area the best way to get to the Complexo Desportivo de Vila Real de Santo António is by train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio, then it is a 15-minute walk.
