Data released shows that Portugal is the sixth country in Europe where the working week is longest.
“In 2022, the normal working week among people aged 20 to 64 in the European Union (EU) was 37.5 hours“, Eurostat said.
In comparison, in Portugal workers work an average of 39.9 hours per week, that is, almost two and a half hours more than the average for the community block, according to ECO.
Portugal is among the countries where the working week is the longest, occupying sixth place in the table. Only in Serbia (43.3 hours), Greece (41 hours), Poland (40.4 hours), Romania and Bulgaria (both 40.2 years), workers work more hours per week than in Portugal, highlights the statistics office.
