According to the National Statistics Institute (INE) “in November 2022, 4.1 million passengers and 19,300 tons of cargo and mail were handled at national airports, corresponding to year-on-year variations of +31.3% and +0.2%, respectively”.
November was the second consecutive month in which the movement of passengers surpassed the level of 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic, with a growth of 3%, after a rise of 4% registered in October.
In the month under review, there was an average daily disembarkation of 65,600 passengers at national airports, which compares with 90,700 in the previous month, surpassing the value observed in November 2019, which was 64,200.
Of the passengers disembarking in November 2022, 80.3% corresponded to international traffic (79.9% in the same month of 2021), mostly from the European continent (66.6% of the total), while in the embarked, 81.8 % corresponded to international traffic (81.5% in November 2021), with the main destination being airports on the European continent (68.8% of the total).

From January to November last year, the number of passengers
handled increased by 129.8% compared to the same period in 2021, but still 6.2%
below that recorded in the same period in 2019.
The United Kingdom was the main country of origin and destination for flights, with growth of 228.8% in the number of disembarked passengers and 228.1% in the number of embarked passengers.
