The seasonal forecast prepared by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), for the period between January and March 2023, indicates that the month of February will have less rain on the North Coast.

According to the IPMA seasonal forecast, the western group of the Azores is also expected to have less precipitation than usual (-10 to -5 mm) in the month of January. In February, this negative anomaly also applies to the coastline of the North region.

In March, precipitation values should be within the usual range for the season across the country.

Regarding the average monthly air temperature, a positive anomaly between 0.25º C and 0.5º C is expected for the mainland and Madeira, for the three months. In the Azores, this forecast applies to the Oriental group in the three months, but only in February and March in the remaining groups.
