“Beneficiary families will be able to purchase, at the pharmacies of the Associação Nacional de Farmácias (ANF) in Lisbon, baby items, medicines, and even vaccines which, although not included in the National Vaccination Plan, are, in many cases, recommended by the Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases and the Portuguese Society of Paediatrics”, informed Câmara de Lisboa, in a statement.
Included in the package of measures to combat inflation in Lisbon, the “Cabaz Bebé” aims to support all families residing in the city who are beneficiaries of the Social Insertion Income (RSI) “with a value of 300 euros per year, for each child up to the age of 18 months”, aid that will be attributed “through a digital 'voucher' system, rechargeable, quarterly, with 75 euros per child”.
The “Cabaz Bebé” has “a global allocation of 120,000 euros” and will be operationalized under a protocol signed with the National Association of Pharmacies (ANF) and Médicos do Mundo (MM), a non-profit entity specializing in the provision of health care for vulnerable populations.
"We want to support our families, who unfortunately face so many obstacles today to raise their children and to ensure that they don't lack the most important things", said the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas (PSD), quoted in a statement.
