The Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) of Lisbon detained 49 people in the last 24 hours, between 00:00 and 23:59 on January 7th.

The arrests were carried out “in the scope of their operational activity”, according to the police, in a statement to Notícias ao Minuto.

Of the 49 arrests, 23 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, while another 10 were for driving without a legal license.

Four arrests were justified by drug trafficking, with two being registered for disobedience, one for resistance and coercion against an official, one for an arrest warrant and, finally, eight for unspecified reasons.

The PSP also seized 12,140 doses of hashish, 27,000 doses of cocaine, 32,200 doses of heroin, and 14,780 doses of other drugs.

In addition, there were 41 road accidents in this period, which resulted in 15 minor injuries.
