Ireland is in for a chilly week, according to forecaster Met Éireann.


Monday - will see temperatures across the country stay above freezing, but still cold, with temperatures in the midlands and southeast expected to be in the range of 1 to 6 degrees. Light rain is expected across the Atlantic coastal counties.


Tuesday - night will see temperatures drop to zero in some places, while Wednesday night is expected to be even colder, with some areas of the country dipping as low as -2 degrees Celsius.


Thursday - will see bright spells with most of the country remaining dry. The northern counties of the country will see some showers.


Friday - the West is forecasted to be dull and cloudy with patchy drizzle, while the East and midlands may be in store for some sunnier, drier spells throughout the day.


The weekend is forecasted to remain mostly dry with the exception of the southern portion of the country.
