Of course the Covid Pandemic has put additional restrictions on movement and social behavior, but wild camping has become an increasing menace along the coastal areas of the Algarve over the last few years. Wild campers do not obey the rules of this country and the paths and meadows along the cliff lines are littered with human waste and other trash, as well as illegal camp fires. Overnight parking? Some stay for days in choice scenic spots (visit the Benagil cliffs) spoiling the natural beauty of the areas they so selfishly chose.

Thankfully, there is now a legal framework in place, which makes wild camping illegal and, for the sake of this beautiful area of the world, let us hope that the police now enforce these regulations.
