It was published at the start of this month and I urge you to have a read of this lovely book as I found it a real page turner and a rollercoaster of emotions.

Karen Telling has been visiting Carvoeiro since the late 80s and their previous holidays are also mentioned in the book a long with their decision to move over. Karen Telling told me that “there is a very strong animal rescue theme running throughout the novel, as it features our beloved rescue animals, including the stories of our three kittens who adopted them in their very first year.”

They have rescued a lot of animals in that time and are still very much involved in animal rescue. Additionally, I asked what the author finds so special about living here, “I think Carvoeiro has this indefinable quality, we just felt at home and it felt like we had already been here, even though it was our first visit. We have never lost that and there is nowhere else I would rather be, it is not perfect by any means but there is still nowhere else I would rather be”.

The Kindle edition and the paperback copy is also available on Amazon and I must add that it has already had glowing reviews including my favourite review which really encapsulates what I thought of the book, which was that it is a “beautifully written book especially if you know and love Carvoeiro. Sometimes you laugh and sometimes you cry but this book sums up the warmth and acceptance of the Portuguese people.” Karen Telling also revealed that she is not ruling out another book as she told me that “I may well write some fiction next time or even light hearted holiday read type books.”
