“Right now, it seems that we have passed the worst phase of this wave of the pandemic and that is why we are easing the restrictions that are in force, but this should not motivate any recklessness”, the minister told Lusa.

Augusto Santos Silva follows the same line of thought as European Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides, who said that she hopes that the EU is already recovering from the pandemic, but urging caution due to the unpredictability of the virus.

“After the onset of this pandemic, in the last two years, we have all seen the impact that Covid-19 has had on the lives of citizens. I believe that saying that we have turned the corner, with the many twists and turns of this pandemic, is not an expression that I would at least use, but we are witnessing, in the last seven to eight weeks, the stabilisation of the number of cases, of hospitalisations and mortality”, said Stella Kyriakides.
